For long years,
different methods have been used to make hair shapely or give a style
for beautiful appearance as main aims. These are
chemical substances and cosmetic products etc.
However, these matters which have been reasons for
physical trauma on hair or hairy skin, sometimes can
cause unwanted or lasting changes. The improper
applications, active substances in chemical matters and the quality of hair
can contribute these negative changes.
Cosmetics applications:
1) Shampoos used for washing hair: Many kinds of shampoos that exist
in the market are formulated in different ways and they are sold as
formulated for normal,dry,greasy,burnt-out and dyed hairs commercially.If
the shampoos which are used for greasy hairs are used daily,they make the
hair dry.It is possible that irriten or allergic dermatitis may develop
against the substances in shampoos.
2) Hair Dyes: The property of making contact
dermatitis of hair dyes which make gradual adding colour is very few,but
they may be harmful as they cause hard,fragile and weak hair.Moreover,the
mental leftovers on hair make the application of lasting dye and curly hair
solution difficult.If such an application is made,it causes the hair to
break.The damage that half-lasting dyes make on hair shaft is less but they
may cause contact allergic dermatitis because of the dye they include.
Applications of lasting dye can be two types.Only one procedure is made if a
more dark colour is wanted.However,if a more light colour is wanted,a
process that include two stages is applied.Firstly,it is necessary that the
present hair should be discoloured.Hydrogen peroxide or ammonia is used for
application of discolouring.At that moment, hair is in an appearance which
is fragile ,suitable for becoming wrinkled and weak.At the end of this
process which gives pretty harm to the hair shaft, hair loss from the hair
trunk occurs and thus the hair becomes thin and fragile.
Some procedures like combing,brushing of hair,usage of jelly,spray,foam are
made to shape the hair.To gather the hair to the back of the head tightly or
to comb the hair very often with the effort of smoothing it by curling may
bring out a situation called traumatic alopecia.
Alopecia of round brush appears with the application of this kind of brushes
very often and tightly.Here, strong brushes on the fragile hair as a result
of a present anomaly cause alopesi of brush by giving harm to the hair.
Alopecia of Massage: It occurs as a result of the application of
medicines to the hairy skin via message.
Excessive usage of substances like spray,jelly,polisher which give shape to
the hair may cause a situation called the bead hair that causes bulge on the
hair shaft.
Dry,weak and fragile hairs may be formed when united with
trauma.Here,especially polyvinylpyrrolidone, vinyl asetat and hardener
polymers are accused.
Medical Treatment:
1. A proper shampoo is suggested.The hair
which is subjected to a chemical procedure is more suitable to the dry and
static electrification.On a hair which is healthy and in appearance of
smooth ,moisture and protein which holds the moisture and forms the main
structure of hair are at the top level and this property helps the hair to
resist the mechanics trauma.Shampoos which include dimethicone should be
used on hairs which has experienced such kinds of chemical trauma.
2. The hair which has suffered harm from
physical or chemical substances should be alienated from these effects
quickly and procedures like lasting curly hair,brushing,combing should be
lowered to the minimum.Strict hair buckles and ribbons should not be
used.People should not sleep with curling pins and similar things,not blunt
pointed and so hard brushes shoul be used.Hairs should be held short and
smooth as far as possible.
